Alice Springs Planning for the Future

The Planning for the Future Forum held on 5 June 2008 gave residents the opportunity to have their say about options put forward for the town’s development. Topics covered included future growth options, revitalisation of the Central Business District and sustainable development.

A Steering Committee has been developed to address the five key actions areas identified from the forum and provide advice to Government namely:

  • A review of the Structure Plan 1999, Alice Springs Land Use Framework Plan and Principles in the NT Planning Scheme
  • Review of the development control clauses applicable to the CBD zone for Alice Springs
  • The Alice Springs CBD Revitalisation Project
  • Residential Land Release Strategy
